Friends of St Luke's School Redbourn

Who are we?
Friends of St Luke’s Redbourn (FOSLR) is a charity whose aim is to advance the education of the pupils of St Luke’s school by developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school; engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment, which support the school and advance the education of the pupils.

What have we achieved?

Since its founding in 2003 FOSLR has purchased/donated the following:
£5000 towards equipping a New Vocational/Life Skills/ICT Suite.
£1500 towards the cost of pupil’s activities week trips for 2 years running.
£2100 to purchase dining room table and chairs requested by the pupils.
£1500 for a Kit Car for lunchtime club.
£7000 towards the cost of purchasing a mini bus with wheelchair lift.
£10000 towards the £20000 needed to enable us to achieve Specialist School Status.
£8102 towards the Interactive Sensory Room and obtaining of the £20,000 grant from The Wooden Spoon to fund the rest of the project (2011)

2012 Highlights

£4200 towards the Playground Equipment project and obtaining the support of
The Lords Taverners and their major sponsor to fund the rest of the project (2012)
£1500 donation towards the Key Stage 5 Garden Area and ELBS project (2012).
£200 towards Prom lights for the Leaver’s Prom (2012).
£375 towards Leaver’s Hoodies for Year 11 (2012).

A team of five members of Friends of St Luke’s Redbourn were selected to take part in the Paralympic Torch Relay on 28 August 2012.  One of the torches from the relay was purchased and donated to the school as a permanent memento of this historic occasion.

What’s next?

We are encouraging applications from staff and students for projects which meet our aims.  The playground equipment has proved so popular that FOSLR may be looking to provide extra facilities.

Please support us at our annual events!  We hold a Christmas Fair in December, a Quiz Night in March and a BBQ and Rounders evening in June/July.
