Key Stage 3 Parrots and Finches Integrated Curriculum
The leader of this area is Mr. Maher
For pupils who follow our integrated curriculum, most of the lessons are taught in one of two specially designed classrooms. Students spend 8 lessons each week on topic based learning. Each term, pupils will work on the same project which will cover the curriculum for English, science, humanities, art, technology and PSHCE.
The topics covered during the next year will be ‘Our Identities’, ‘My World’, ‘Growing’ and ‘World War II’. In each topic, pupils will make a project book which will include all of their work from the term.
The teachers of the integrated curriculum are:

Mrs. Black, Mr. Cox, Mrs. Leach, Mrs. Rayburn and Ms. Talson.
For the rest of the timetable, the student’s lessons will be:
- Maths
- Games and P.E – for part of the year, this will include swimming.
- European Studies – students will learn about different countries in Europe; their languages, geography and cultures.
- Arts – for a term each, pupils will participate in drama, dance and music lessons.
- STEM – a mixture of ICT, science, maths and engineering, where students will complete different projects and tasks based on thinking skills.
- Healthy Living – During these lessons, students will cover a range of different topics from the PSHCE, life skills, food and P.E subjects. Pupils will be taught about the importance of living healthily and what they need to do to keep fit.
In all subjects, students will be encouraged to develop their personal learning and thinking skills (PLTS), to make them more aware of how they learn and how they can improve.
