Society and Environment
The faculty of Society and Environment is a dynamic and forward-looking faculty in the school. The faculty is made up of Geography, History, MFL (French/German), PSHE and RE.
It is staffed with teaching and support staff with many years of teaching experience in a special education setting.
The faculty maintains a high quality level of teaching and learning, offering the students diverse learning experiences within the school.
The faculty is involved in many extra-curricular activities in the school through various programmes such as the Citizenship Days, Humanities Day and RE Days, etc. and the impact of Humanities can be seen across many of the subjects in the school.
As part of our curriculum, we promote out of school learning experiences ranging from trips to the local area to residential trips in the UK and abroad - the MFL department’s biannual trip to France; RE trips to places of worship, History’s visit to Verulamium, Duxford Air Museum, the Imperial War Museum, and Geography’s trips to the Natural History Museum, Tropical Rainforest Experience, Eden Project and local areas of study. Within PSHE, we invite guest speakers to share their knowledge with the students on various topics such as drug education, sex education, citizenship, childcare, etc
The faculty played an important role in the school achieving the specialist status as Science and Humanities with Rural Dimensions College.
At Key Stage 4, we consistently score high mark at Entry Level with many of the students achieving the highest grade.
